RECOMMENDED RESTAURANTS

To ensure you have an unforgettable experience, we've carefully selected the best restaurants in Quito.

What is the elevation of Quito, and how can you avoid "altitude sickness"?

Quito is located at 2,850 meters (9,350 feet) above sea level.

It is recommended that you arrive 48 hours in advance and avoid alcohol, heavy meals, and physical activity for the first 24 hours. You should stay hydrated by drinking at least 2 or 3 liters of water a day. And if you experience “altitude sickness,” you can take one or two aspirin tablets (500 mg tablets).

You can also take Mareol (available at any pharmacy, no prescription needed) or, as another option, hot sweetened tea (coca tea).

WHAT IS THE WEATHER LIKE IN QUITO?

In June, temperatures in Quito range from 19 to 24 degrees Celsius (49 to 68 degrees Fahrenheit). We recommend bringing a jacket and applying sunscreen in the morning, as the sun’s rays tend to be strong. Don’t forget your umbrella—the weather in Quito is unpredictable.
